Stars roll to unbeaten weekend in Hatcher Duals

Sixth-ranked OCU improves to 5-0 in duals

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Oklahoma City University edged Emmanuel (Ga.) 23-21 on Saturday at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in the Ouachita Baptist Hatcher Duals.
The Stars, ranked sixth in NAIA men's wrestling, finished the event 3-0 to improve to 5-0 in duals this season. Oklahoma City stomped the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) 27-12 and knocked off Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 28-20 on Saturday.
Against Emmanuel, Ryan Bracken picked up a forfeit at 285 pounds to put the Stars ahead 23-9. Chase Vincent put OCU on top 11-9 with a 23-8 technical-fall win over Markis Hill in the 174-pound match.
Jaxen Gilmore, Easton Rendleman, Kaden Truelove and R.J. Walker supplied the Stars with wins in the dual.
Against the University of the Ozarks, Korey Walker won 7-3 over Jerhett Lee in the heavyweight match to give OCU a 27-0 advantage in the dual. R.J. Walker delivered a fall in 1:26 over Kade McMahon in the 165-pound contest. The Stars' Connor Holman nipped Jaylen Yorks 11-10 in the 149-pound match.
Against host Ouachita Baptist, OCU overcame two forfeits and rallied from a 12-0 deficit in the dual score. Three Stars came up with falls – R.J. Walker pinned Ben Parkhurst in 1:03 at 165, then Vincent finished off a fall in 1:29 against Christian Carney at 174. Kaden Truelove pinned Rey Reyes in 2:12 in the 184-pound match, putting OCU ahead 28-12.
Gilmore, Truelove, Vincent and R.J. Walker of the Stars each went 3-0 on the weekend. Walker, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., notched two falls to move to 5-0 with three pins this season.
OCU takes on Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Abe Lemons Arena.
