THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University squares off with Wayland Baptist (Texas) in a matchup of top 10-ranked teams in NAIA Division I women's basketball and two of the top teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference

ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City upended Southwestern Christian 71-53 on Tuesday in Bethany, Okla. The Stars (13-1, 6-0 SAC) held Southwestern Christian to 29.8 percent shooting to limit a foe to under 30 percent shooting for the 10th time this season
Abby Selzer, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Thomas, Okla., led OCU with 14 points and nine rebounds. Selzer produces 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.43 blocks a contest this season. Selzer's 65.9 percent field-goal percentage rates second in the NAIA
Brennyn Seagler, a 5-11 junior from Gruver, Texas, added 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Seagler delivers 6.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.00 steal per game
• The Stars hold teams to the lowest shooting percentage from the field in the NAIA at 27.6 percent and dishes out the second most assists per contest with 19.6, while securing the second most defensive rebounds per game with 33.4. • Oklahoma City maintained the 10th spot in the most recent NAIA Division I ratings. Oklahoma City extended the NAIA's longest streak of top-25 appearances to 248 consecutive rankings dating back to 1997-98. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 21st consecutive year and for the 24th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars picked up the second spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. Oklahoma City took its 18th SAC regular-season championship and 12th SAC Tournament title last season. OCU has won or shared nine of the past 11 league titles, going 206-20 (.912 winning percentage) within SAC play since 2007-08
• OCU knocked off Wayland Baptist in the last meeting between the two teams 104-71 on March 2 in the SAC Tournament semifinals in Siloam Springs, Ark. OCU leads the all-time series 39-25


ABOUT THE FLYING QUEENS
• Wayland Baptist overpowered Texas Wesleyan 80-53 on Saturday inside the Hutcherson Center in Plainview, Texas. Wayland Baptist (12-2, 6-0 SAC) made 57.4 percent of its shots from the field
• Kambrey Blakey, a 6-0 junior, had 15 points, two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal while making 6-of-8 shots from the floor. Blakey averages 11.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.00 steals a game
• Wayland Baptist ranks third in the NAIA in assists to turnovers per game (1.3)
• Coaches predicted the Flying Queens to win the SAC in the preseason conference poll

 

MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (95-18, fourth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 28-6 season with the SAC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2017-18
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
• He has an overall record coaching college women of 117-65, notching his 100th career win in a 78-53 victory at Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Feb. 23, 2018
 
Alesha Ellis (128-45, sixth season with WBU)
• Wayland Baptist handed Ellis her 100th career win in four-plus seasons as head coach in a 65-39 win over Panhandle State on Jan. 15, 2018
• Ellis has led Wayland Baptist to four consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division I Tournament. In her first year as head coach, Ellis led the Flying Queens to a 20-12 record and a trip to the national tournament for just the second time in a decade
• Ellis took Lubbock Christian High School (Texas) to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class 3A state championship prior to becoming the Wayland coach
