Stars look to remain undefeated in away contests in 2018-19

THE MATCHUP

• Oklahoma City University squares off with Southwestern Christian in a special Super Tuesday Sooner Athletic Conference clash
• The Stars continue a full week with the second of four games in a week
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City dismantled USAO 64-38 on Saturday in Chickasha, Okla. The Stars (12-1, 5-0 SAC) limited a foe to under 40 points for the second time this season
Payton Taylor, a 6-foot sophomore from Ada, Okla., stood front and center for OCU with 11 points and five rebounds. Taylor reached double figures in scoring for the first time this season and fifth time as a Star. Taylor's numbers this season are 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists a contest
Brennyn Seagler, a 5-11 junior from Gruver, Texas, added 10 points, five rebounds and two assists. Seagler delivers 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game
• The Stars hold teams to the lowest shooting percentage from the field in the NAIA at 27.4 percent and the lowest 3-point shooting clip at 22.2 percent while leading the country with 34.2 defensive rebounds per game. • Oklahoma City maintained the 10th spot in the most recent NAIA Division I ratings. Oklahoma City extended the NAIA's longest streak of top-25 appearances to 248 consecutive rankings dating back to 1997-98. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 21st consecutive year and for the 24th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars picked up the second spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. Oklahoma City took its 18th SAC regular-season championship and 12th SAC Tournament title last season. OCU has won or shared nine of the past 11 league titles, going 205-20 (.911 winning percentage) within SAC play since 2007-08
• OCU collected an 80-69 win over Southwestern Christian on Feb. 15, 2018 the last time the two squads met. Taylor LaCour contributed 14 points
• The Stars improved to 11-0 vs. Southwestern Christian in the all-time series

ABOUT THE EAGLES
• Mid-America Christian handed Southwestern Christian a 76-65 loss Saturday inside the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City. Southwestern Christian (5-6, 2-3 SAC) managed 38.7 percent shooting from the field
• Andi McGill, a 5-6 senior, had 20 points, five rebounds and four assists while nailing 4 of 10 3-pointers. McGill reached 20 points for the first time since a 21-point outing Dec. 18, 2015 against Bethel (Kan.) in North Newton, Kan. McGill averages 9.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.12 steals a game
• Southwestern Christian ranks 13th in the NAIA in free-throw percentage (73.9 percent)
• SAC coaches predicted the Eagles to finish 10th in the preseason conference poll
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (94-18, fourth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 28-6 season with the SAC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2017-18
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
• He has an overall record coaching college women of 116-65, notching his 100th career win in a 78-53 victory at Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Feb. 23, 2018
 
Mark Arthur (51-57, fourth season with Southwestern Christian)
• Arthur previously coached the Southwestern Christian men's basketball program for 20 years until he stepped down to become full-time athletic director in 2012
• The Eagles advanced to the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Tournament for the second year in a row after winning the NCCAA Central Region title in 2017-18
• In 2008, the court in Pickens-Springer Gymnasium was named 'Mark Arthur Court' in recognition of Arthur's achievements at SCU. He was inducted into the SCU Hall of Fame in 2013
