MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University reached 20 victories for the 21st consecutive season with a 93-29 victory over Bacone on Thursday at the Palmer Center.
Oklahoma City owns a 635-84 mark for an .883 winning percentage since 1998-99. The Stars, ranked 12th in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 20-2, 13-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Over the past 20 years, OCU has averaged 30.8 wins a season with 19 25-win seasons and 12 30-win marks. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, '01, '02, '12, '14, '15 and '17.
JoHanna Beathard, Abby Selzer and Payton Taylor each scored 12 points to lead the Stars. Beathard, a junior from Fletcher, Okla., tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and second of her OCU career.
Selzer, a freshman from Thomas, Okla., posted 12 points and six rebounds, and Taylor, a sophomore from Ada, Okla., picked up 12 points and four steals.
Taylor LaCour, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, put together 10 points, five rebounds and four assists for OCU. Brennyn Seagler, a junior from Gruver, Texas, and Shamika Smith, a junior from Midwest City, Okla., topped the Stars with seven assists each. Smith snagged four steals.
Oklahoma City reached 90 points for the fourth time this season. The Stars held their opponent to less than 30 percent shooting from the field for the 15th time in 2018-19 and fifth time in seven contests.
OCU moved its winning streak to eight and remained unbeaten in away contests (8-0) this season.
The Stars face John Brown (Ark.) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
