OCU wallops Texas Wesleyan 60-49

Stars improve to 6-0 on road this season

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University took a 60-49 win over Texas Wesleyan on Thursday night at the Sid Richardson Center.
Abby Selzer, a freshman from Thomas, Okla., propelled Oklahoma City with 20 points. The Stars, ranked 12th in NAIA Division I women's basketball, moved to 16-2, 8-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Selzer shot 9-for-12 from the field and rejected two shots in 18 minutes of work. Brennyn Seagler, a junior from Gruver, Texas, collected her first double-double of the season with 11 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for OCU.
Taylor LaCour
, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, provided the Stars with eight points, while Michaela Kay, a senior from Spokane, Wash., added six points. Mallory Lockhart dished out a game-high five assists, and Taylor Sylvester posted three blocked shots for OCU.
The Stars held Texas Wesleyan to 29.8 percent shooting from the floor in the game and a 17.2 percent field-goal percentage in the first half. OCU has limited 12 opponents to a field-goal percentage under 30 percent, while Texas Wesleyan mustered its second sub-30 percent shooting performance of 2018-19.
OCU reeled off a 7-0 run to finish the first quarter. Payton Taylor sparked the surge with a jumper within the paint, and Seagler notched a 3-point play.
Oklahoma City extended its lead to 35-17 on LaCour's basket early in the second half.
The Stars meet Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
