OCU rolls past Jamestown 19-8

Four Stars finish with three hits

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City rolled past Jamestown (N.D.) 19-8 on Monday night at Jim Wade Stadium in the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket.
The Stars had four players finish with three hits and belted five home runs. OCU (48-7), ranked fifth in the NAIA, takes on No. 22 Central Methodist (Mo.) at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Hunter Aguirre, Shaun Corso, Daniel Costello and Branden Grieger all notched three hits apiece for Oklahoma City. Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., drove in the first two runs of the day for OCU off a triple to left-center field in the bottom of the second inning. The Stars went on to explode for eight runs in the second.
Jamestown cut into the OCU lead after scoring two runs in the third and three in the fourth, but Oklahoma City responded with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the fourth. Elliott Cary smacked his ninth home run of the season, and Joe Lytle followed with a two-RBI double to left field. Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., finished with two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored.
OCU took a 10-run lead in the sixth when a single from Aguirre drove in the Stars' 16th run of the game. Jamestown rattled off two runs in the seventh but again saw the deficit grow to double digits after a home run from Corso put Oklahoma City ahead 19-8 in the bottom half of the inning.
Aguirre, Garrett Foster and Lane Milligan each added home runs for OCU. Foster and Milligan have hit a combined 26 homers this season. Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., added three RBIs and two runs scored.
J.R. Holloway, a senior from Grapevine, Texas, improved to 9-0 on the mound after pitching six innings and allowing 10 hits and six earned runs while tossing six strikeouts. Tyler Milligan earned his fourth save of the year after pitching three scoreless innings and allowing only one hit.
