Stars smash Central Christian 4-0, 14-0

OCU scores 14 runs for third time this season

McPHERSON, Kan. – Oklahoma City University crushed Central Christian (Kan.) 4-0 and 14-0 in Tuesday's doubleheader at the Central Christian softball complex.
The Stars got dominating performances from pitchers Georgia Wall and Abby Meador, as the duo combined for 19 strikeouts and allowed three total hits and no runs. OCU, ranked sixth in NAIA softball, improved to 30-5 on the year and 17-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. Central Christian fell to 7-29 overall and 1-17 in the SAC.
Wall, a junior from Marlow, Okla., pitched all seven innings in game one and allowed only one hit while tossing a career-high 11 strikeouts. It was the 10th time this season Wall has thrown at least six strikeouts in a game. Meador, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., pitched five shutout innings while striking out eight and allowing two hits in game two.
Baileigh Loux, a freshman from Reno, Nev., provided the Stars with two hits, five RBIs and four runs scored against the Tigers. She had an RBI single to left field in the fifth inning of game one that put the Stars ahead 3-0. In game two, Loux belted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to give OCU a 14-0 lead.
Kennedy Jackson, a freshman from Moore, Okla., added three hits, three runs and an RBI on Tuesday. Also finishing the doubleheader with three hits for OCU was Bailey Whitmore. Whitmore, a junior from Oklahoma City, finished with three hits and three RBIs, including a three-run homer in the top of the first inning in game two.
Laci Joyner and Brittany Perez each provided the Stars with two hits and two RBIs on Tuesday. Joyner, a senior from Mustang, Okla., blasted a two-run homerun to left center in the top of the fourth inning in game two.
Oklahoma City's three homeruns in game two tied a season-high for homeruns in a single game. The Stars hit three in a 12-3 victory over Mid-America Christian on March 15. OCU also tied a season-best for most runs in a game with 14.  The Stars scored 14 runs against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on March 12 and against Bacone on March 30.
Oklahoma City returns to action at 2 p.m. Thursday for a doubleheader against Southwestern Christian in Bethany, Okla.
