Stars roll to 14-4 win over Mid-America Christian

OCU overcomes 3-2 third-inning deficit for first road win of year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University routed Mid-America Christian 14-4 on Thursday at James Curtis Field.
Elliott Cary, Daniel Costello and Garrett Foster hammered home runs for OCU. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, won their first road game of the year to move to 12-1, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City has reached double digits in runs scored six times this season and for the third consecutive time Thursday.
Costello and Foster hit homers to key Oklahoma City's four-run fourth inning. Costello led off the inning by nailing a solo shot past the right-center field fence to tie the game 3-3. Foster pounded a two-run homer to right. Joe Lytle added a sacrifice fly to give the Stars a 6-3 lead.
In the fifth, Cary belted a two-run blast over the left-center field fence with two out for an 8-3 OCU advantage.
Lane Milligan smacked a two-run triple deep into right field along the third-base line to push the Stars' margin to 10-3 in the sixth.
Shaun Corso drove in OCU's first two runs on a double to deep center field in the first.
Milligan, a senior from Binger, Okla., went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Foster, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., drove in two runs and scored twice in a 2-for-4 performance for the Stars.
Costello, a senior from Edmond, Okla., was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Lytle, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 1-for-2, scored twice and knocked in a run. Cary, a junior from Niceville, Fla., scored three times, brought in two runs and was 1-for-3.
Bryce Milligan earned the victory to improve to 4-0 this year. Bryce Milligan, a sophomore right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., struck out five and allowed four hits and two walks in six innings. Tanner Andrews worked two innings, and Tyler Milligan pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Stars finish their series against Mid-America Christian with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
