OCU rolls to 44-9 win over Central Baptist

Ouachita Baptist snaps Stars' winning streak 23-21

CONWAY, Ark. – Oklahoma City University completed the season unbeaten against NAIA competition in duals with a 44-9 victory over Central Baptist (Ark.) on Monday night at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse.
The Stars, ranked 19th in NAIA wrestling, dropped a dual vs. Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 23-21. OCU (8-2) had reeled off a program-best eight-dual winning streak.
Oklahoma City surpassed its 7-0 start in duals in the 2015-16 season.
Against Central Baptist, Oklahoma City rolled up four consecutive falls. Brok Williams finished the 157-pound match against Juan Bustos in 2:34 to put OCU ahead 14-9.
R.J. Walker followed by pinning Isaiah Gipson in 1:13 in the 165-pound bout. Kaden Truelove stuck the fall against Saleem McNair in 2:58, while Brian Buser pinned Darius Nathan in 5:00.
OCU's Matt Landgraff routed JoeQuan Richardson 16-1 in the 149-pound contest.
Jerhett Lee edged Bryson McGowan 5-4 in the heavyweight match to bring Ouachita Baptist the dual win. Buser, a freshman from Tampa, Fla., took a 10-0 win over Justin Villegas at 197 to put the Stars up 21-20.
Landgraff, a junior from Weeki Wachee, Fla., posted a fall in 2:09 over Robert Otero at 149 pounds. Williams, a senior from Lawton, Okla., added a 16-0 technical fall over Sean Butler to give Oklahoma City a 17-10 advantage.
OCU hosts the first Sooner Athletic Conference wrestling championships at 9 a.m. Feb. 17.
