ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars dropped its only exhibition of the season 81-40 at Texas A&M on Friday in College Station, Texas
• NaShyla Hammons, a 6-foot junior from Oklahoma City, had seven points for OCU on Friday. She turned in 8.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.41 steals a contest last season
• Taylor Sylvester, a 6-5 junior from Chickasha, Okla., picked up seven points, four rebounds and a blocked shot against the Aggies. Sylvester joined the Stars after being an all-Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference choice with Northern Oklahoma-Enid
• Taylor LaCour, a 6-1 senior from Georgetown, Texas, became a third-team all-SAC selection as well as all-tournament in the SAC Tournament while producing 12.4 points and 5.5 rebounds a game last season
• Oklahoma City sits at 10th in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 21st consecutive year and for the 24th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars picked up the second spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. OCU took its 18th SAC regular-season championship and 12th SAC Tournament title last season
• OCU owns a 4-0 all-time record against Paul Quinn. The Stars have topped 100 points in three of those meetings
ABOUT THE LADY TIGERS
• Paul Quinn defeated Southwestern Assemblies of God 68-57 on Saturday in Dallas. Paul Quinn (2-0) held Southwestern Assemblies of God to 29.8 percent shooting from the field
• Te'Ana Washington, a 5-8 senior, produced 21 points and three steals for Paul Quinn. She leads the Lady Tigers with 22.5 points and 2.00 steals a contest this season
• Red River Athletic Conference coaches predicted Paul Quinn to finish third in the league in the preseason
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (82-17, fourth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 28-6 season with the SAC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2017-18
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
