THE MATCHUP
• Oklahoma City University starts its Sooner Athletic Conference schedule with Langston

• Langston plays its first league game as an SAC member
• OCU owns a 4-1 record against the Lions in the teams' last five head-to-head matchups
• Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and OCU students, faculty and staff get into all regular-season OCU home athletics events free with their ID

ABOUT THE STARS
• OCU cruised past Edward Waters (Fla.) 84-55 on Saturday in the Our Lady of the Lake Classic in San Antonio. The Stars (6-1) limited Edward Waters to 35.4 percent shooting from the field to hold their sixth opponent to 30 percent or worse shooting
Abby Selzer, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Thomas, Okla., led all scorers with 15 points and grabbed four rebounds. Selzer posts 14.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots a game with a 69.6 percent field-goal percentage
Mallory Lockhart, a 5-7 freshman from Keller, Texas, provided the Stars with 14 points to help OCU hold a 39-26 edge in bench scoring. Lockhart's averages this season are 11.1 points and 2.1 assists a game, and she leads the Stars with a 48.8 percent 3-point percentage
• OCU has allowed opponents to shoot 29.1 percent from the field to lead NAIA Division I this season. To see how OCU stacks up to the rest of the NAIA statistically, click here
• Oklahoma City sits at 10th in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 21st consecutive year and for the 24th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• The Stars picked up the second spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. OCU took its 18th SAC regular-season championship and 12th SAC Tournament title last season
• OCU turned away Langston 90-55 on Nov. 17, 2017 at Abe Lemons Arena in the Oklahoma City Classic
. The Stars have gone 32-3 against Langston over the years
 

ABOUT THE LADY LIONS
• Langston collected a 72-68 road victory on Tuesday against Jarvis Christian (Texas) to improve to 4-3
• Jhordyn Patton, a 5-5 senior from Edmond, Okla., charged Langston with 21 points while sinking 8 of 10 shots from the floor. Patton averages 17.5 points and 3.0 rebounds a game
• Langston was selected to finish eighth in the Sooner Athletic Conference by the coaches before the season
• Langston scores at a rate of 78.5 points per game to rank 26th in the NAIA

 

MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (88-18, fourth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to 28-6 season with the SAC regular-season and tournament crowns in 2017-18
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympics
• From 1998-2004, he served as assistant for Oklahoma. During that time, the Sooners made five NCAA Tournament trips with the 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth with three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament crowns
 
Elaine Powell (30-35, third season with Langston)
• Powell previously served as an assistant coach for women's basketball programs at Alabama A&M, Ohio University and Grambling State University.
• She spent nearly a decade playing in the WNBA, where she was a three-time WNBA champion with the Detroit Shock
• Prior to her professional basketball career, Powell attended LSU, where she was an all-American and finished her career as LSU's 11th all-time leading scorer with 1,163 points. She was the first player in LSU history to be drafted into the WNBA

Andrew Himes will provide the play-by-play. Himes enters his eighth season as the voice of the Stars and has been broadcasting OCU basketball for 11 years starting on color commentary as an OCU student
