OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University faces Mid-America Christian at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field in the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament quarterfinals.
The Stars (11-4, 6-3 SAC) took the fourth seed in the tournament. OCU had a chance to share the conference regular-season title entering the final match before the postseason.
Oklahoma City boasts of conference leaders in many offensive categories. Aboubakr Diallo, a senior from Oyem, Gabon, tops the SAC with 21 goals, 50 points, 1.40 goals per contest, 3.33 points a match, 4.67 shots a game and 2.87 shots on goal per match. Petar Djurdjevic, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, has the most assists (16) and assists per match (1.07) in the league.
This season, Diallo has been honored with two weekly awards from the conference, while Djurdjevic picked up one SAC offensive player of the week nod.
OCU ranks eighth in the NAIA with 3.60 goals scored per match.
The tournament champion collects an NAIA Championship bid. The NAIA Championship Opening Round takes place on campus sites around the nation Nov. 17, while the NAIA Championships happen Nov. 26-Dec. 1 in Irvine, Calif.
