OCU advances to SAC Tournament championship with 11-6 win over St. Gregory’s

Stars play for SAC Tournament title 1 p.m. Monday in Chickasha, Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY - The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University baseball team completed a sweep of its bracket of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament with an 11-6 victory over St. Gregory's on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Oklahoma City collected 16 hits and got 8.1 spectacular innings from starting pitcher Roberto Delgado to move to 44-8 on the season. The Stars advanced to the championship game 1 p.m. vs. Texas Wesleyan at Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha, Okla. The Stars will be looking for their 12th SAC Tournament crown.
Delgado, a junior out of Killeen, Texas, allowed four earned runs while collected 12 strikeouts, walking just one to earn the victory. Delgado threw 138 pitches in the win to help push his record this season to 9-2.

OCU, playing as the visiting team, opened the game with two runs in the top half of the first inning on an RBI single from Shaun Corso and a bases loaded walk by Branden Grieger.
St. Gregory's (32-22) plated two of their own in the bottom half of the inning, but the Stars responded with a five spot in the top of the second to make the game 7-2.
In the inning, Oklahoma City got an RBI singles from Jared Baker and Skyler Bean, as well as a three-run moon shot off the bat of Cory Linn.
The Stars added a run in the fifth after Lane Milligan hit his second triple of the game and was subsequently drove home on a double by Joe Lytle.
Milligan, a junior from Englewood, Colo., finished the day 3-for-6 with three runs scored and three extra base hits while raising his season average to .436.
The Cavaliers plated three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 8-5, but couldn't get any closer as Delgado got a strikeout and a groundout to strand a runner on third.
Oklahoma City tacked on three insurance runs in the ninth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Corso.
OCU had six batters with multiple knocks in the game, including Bean, a senior from Garland, Texas, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
