OCU prevails 10-7, 10-3 over USAO

No. 2-ranked Stars extend win streak to 13

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped USAO 10-7 and 10-3 on Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium in a showdown of top 20-ranked teams in NAIA baseball.

Oklahoma City scored 10 or more runs for the 20th time this season. In the first game, Shaun Corso flied out deep into center field to score Joe Lytle from third base to put OCU ahead 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Corso's sacrifice fly touched off a five-run inning for the Stars. Lane Milligan and Branden Grieger added RBI singles. Caleb Davis reached home plate as Garrett Foster grounded to shortstop Frankely Gonzalez, and Milligan scored on a balk.
Skyler Bean drew a bases-loaded walk to give OCU a 4-0 first-inning advantage. Lytle doubled in a run, while Milligan knocked in a run with a single. Cory Linn also drew a bases-full walk.
Craig Knoche collected the victory. Knoche, a junior right-hander from Tempe, Ariz., worked 2.2 innings after entering in the fourth. Knoche (6-0) struck out two. J.R. Holloway wrapped up the win for Stars.
Lytle, a junior from Yukon, Okla., went 3-for-5, scored three times and drove in a run, while Milligan, a junior from Englewood, Colo., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Corso, a junior from Lancaster, Pa., was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, and Grieger, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., went 2-for-5, drove in a run and scored a run.
In the second game, OCU erased a 2-0 deficit with six runs in the third. Jared Baker hammered a double into right-center field with the bases loaded to plate three runs and put the Stars up 4-2. Milligan sparked OCU's uprising with an RBI single.
In the sixth, Milligan nailed a two-run double for an 8-2 OCU lead. Baker and Lytle brought home more runs on groundouts.
