OCU falls to John Brown 3-0 in SAC semifinals

Stars end the year 10-7-1

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University's season came to an end as the Stars lost to John Brown (Ark.) 2-0 in the semifinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament Wednesday at Alumni Field.
OCU finished the season 10-7-1 overall. With the win, top-seeded John Brown improved to 18-2 overall and advanced to the SAC tournament championship game where it will host the winner of the Texas Wesleyan-USAO semifinal match.
John Brown got on the board first when a cross from Anna Brown connected with Jastin Redman for a score about 10 minutes into the match. The Golden Eagles contained possession for the majority of the half, keeping the Stars from firing a single shot after the first 45 minutes.
JBU extended its lead early in the second half when Sara Frey assisted Redman for a one-touch score. Redman got the ball inside the center of the box, made a touch on the ball and booted it into the right corner of the goal to give her team a 2-0 lead.
Then in the 84th minute, the Golden Eagles put the game away when Sienna Nealon dribbled past the OCU keeper and belted a shot into the open net to put JBU ahead 3-0.
Brianna Demuth, a junior from Jenks, Okla., was the only Star to have a shot on goal in Tuesday's match. Oklahoma City's Kirsten Thomas collected four saves in the loss, ending the season with 48 saves and 20 goals allowed.
