OCU absorbs exhibition loss to Texas A&M

Stars complete two-game run vs. top-20 NCAA teams

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University dropped its second women's basketball exhibition to Texas A&M 86-35 on Monday night at Reed Arena.
The defending national champion Stars, ranked No. 1 in NAIA Division I, finished its two-game road trip of exhibitions against ranked NCAA Division I competition. Texas A&M is ranked 20th according to the Associated Press, while Texas enters the season at No. 2.
Daniela Galindo, a senior from Shattuck, Okla., totaled seven points, three assists and two steals, while Alexis Hill, a senior from Byng, Okla., posted seven points and five rebounds for OCU. NaShyla Hammons, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, scored seven points, and Taylor LaCour, a junior from Georgetown, Texas, grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
The Stars put together an early 7-2 lead. Payton Taylor scored in transition, then sank a 3-pointer. Brooke Irwin hit a putback to give OCU a five-point lead at the 7:50 mark of the first quarter. Texas A&M went on a 19-0 run to end the first period.
OCU (1-0) resumes regular-season play 8 p.m. Friday against LSU-Shreveport in Waxahachie, Texas, in the Southwestern Assemblies of God Classic.
