Stars take 30-9 loss to Central Oklahoma

Buser, Williams grab wins for OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Brok Williams' sudden-victory win at 165 pounds highlighted Oklahoma City University's 30-9 setback to Central Oklahoma on Wednesday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
Williams, a senior from Lawton, Okla., edged Mason Thompson 8-6 in the first sudden-victory period for the Stars, who were wrestling their first dual of the season.
Central Oklahoma, ranked eighth in NCAA Division II, improved to 2-0. Central's dual winning streak reached 27 in a row.
Brian Buser of the Stars picked up a forfeit win at 197 pounds.
Williams tied his match with a takedown with eight seconds remaining. Williams collected the takedown 19 seconds into the extra period for the victory.
In the first period, Williams took the early lead with a takedown at the 1:30 mark. Williams made two escapes as well. Williams, ranked 11th among NAIA 165-pounders, moved to 5-1 on the season.
In the 174-pound bout, Chase Vincent took a 5-4 first-period lead with a reversal and a takedown. Miguel Barreras answered with a takedown late in the first. Barreras prevailed 13-10, but Vincent had a third-period takedown to put the pressure on.
OCU squares off with Lyon (Ark.) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
