Stars roll up 92-50 win over Bacone

Galindo, Wallen boost seventh-ranked OCU with 25-point performances

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University women's basketball team cruised to a 92-50 win over conference foe Bacone on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Daniela Galindo, a junior from Shattuck, Okla., scored a season-high 26 points. The win moved Oklahoma City to 18-2, 9-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Galindo picked up four assists, two blocked shots and four 3-pointers. Daniela Wallen, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, provided the Stars with 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals.
The Stars ended the second quarter on a 17-2 run in which all 17 points were scored by Galindo and Wallen. Both Wallen and Galindo scored 20 points in the first half and accounted for 40 of OCU's 53 first-half points.
"Both Danielas were just awesome in the first half," Stars head coach Bo Overton said. "Making open shots and making plays. I was really proud of what they did today."
The Stars were dominant on the boards throughout the game, outrebounding the Warriors 44-25. Additionally, OCU outscored Bacone 21-3 in second-chance opportunities and 18-4 in fastbreak points.
Oklahoma City heated up in the second quarter, going 11-for-16 from the floor and 5-for-6 from 3-point-range.
"Once we got settled down a little bit, we were able to move the ball really well," Overton said. "We had 18 assists in the first half, which is really awesome. This team put a little more pressure on us than we have seen in the past couple of weeks and I thought we did a good job overall executing and adjusting."
OCU topped 90 points for the seventh time this season and now rank sixth in the NAIA with 81.6 points per game.
Ashley Barry-Wallace led Bacone (6-12, 4-6 SAC) with 20 points, four rebounds and four steals.
The Stars continue conference play 6 p.m. Thursday in Bethany, Okla., against Southwestern Christian at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
