Stars knock off Central Baptist 5-0, 4-1

OCU moves to 27-0 on season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University collected victories over Central Baptist (Ark.) 5-0, 4-1 on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Leslie Miller powered the Stars with a three-run home run in the first game, while Kyndra Holasek, Laci Joyner and Kali Pugh each tripled in the second game. OCU, ranked sixth in NAIA softball, ran its undefeated start to 27-0.
In the first game, Miller pounded a three-run blast past the left-field fence with one out in the first inning. Holasek and Samantha Stallbaumer reached base on bunt hits before scoring on Miller's shot.
Jaci Smith smacked a two-run double to left in the fourth.
Holasek, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases, while Miller, a senior from Blanchard, Okla., hit her fourth homer of the year.
Miller shut out Central Baptist on three hits and a walk. Miller struck out six while notching her 10th win, fourth shutout and eighth complete game of the year. She retired the first nine batters she faced.
In the second game, Holasek was 2-for-3, scored twice and swiped two bases. Shelbi Legg, a senior from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-3.
In the first, Miller brought in the first run with a bunt along the first-base foul line. Holasek reached home from third on the hit. Pugh put OCU up 2-0 by scoring on a double steal with Sha Ingram. Joyner nailed a triple to right-center field to drive home Bailey Whitmore from first base.
Holasek led off the fifth with a triple past the right fielder. Holasek gave the Stars a 4-1 advantage by scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.
Abby Meador improved to 11-0 with the win. Meador, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk in five innings. She fanned six. Georgia Wall, a freshman from Marlow, Okla., posted her second save of the year by working the last two innings of the game.
Oklahoma City takes on Northeastern State in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Tahlequah, Okla.
