OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University hosts Southwestern Christian in a Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament quarterfinal match at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field.
Oklahoma City (11-5-1, 5-3-1 SAC) moved to the fourth seed in the tournament after Southwestern Christian forfeited a pair of matches for playing an ineligible player. Watch the game here.
The Stars are led by juniors Alexandre Taiar and Logan Stewart. Taiar, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, leads OCU and is tied for fifth in the conference with 10 goals this season. He is the first Star to score double-digit goals in a season since Adam Black scored 15 in 2013. Taiar collected SAC and NAIA offensive player of the week honors for Oct. 10-16 after scoring twice against Southwestern Christian.
Stewart, from Denton, Texas, sits tied for 10th in the conference with seven goals while also leading OCU in assists with six.
OCU junior goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajzdic, out of Novi Sad, Serbia, has recorded three shutouts this season and sits second in the league in saves with 76.
Igor Stojanovic spearheads Southwestern Christian (10-5-2, 4-3-2 SAC) with team highs in goals (eight), assists (four) and points (20). The Stars toppled Southwestern Christian 3-2 on Oct. 15 at Stars Field. Southwestern Christian was ranked 24th at the time.
