CONWAY, Ark. – Oklahoma City University defeated Central Baptist College (Ark.) 30-13 on Tuesday in the A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse.
The Stars, ranked seventh in NAIA wrestling, won three matches from forfeits, while Bryson McGowan and Travon Smith pinned their opponents.
In the 197-pound class, McGowan, a freshman from Hulbert, Okla., pinned Kurland Parks at the 1:47 mark.
Michael Stamp, a senior from Norman, Okla., and Brok Williams, a sophomore from Lawton, Okla., received victories because the Mustangs were unable to field a wrestler at their weight class. Stamp wrestles at 141, while Williams is in the 157-pound division.
Miguel Tovar, a junior from El Paso, Texas, also received a win from a forfeit at 197.
The Mustangs' Peter Acuna defeated OCU's Coulton Parker, a sophomore from Piedmont, Okla., in a 6-0 decision in the 133-pound class.
At 149, OCU's Travon Smith, a senior from Shreveport, La., pinned Juan Bustos at the 2:16 mark.
Degaylon Gray of CBC beat Tanner Borror, a freshman from Coweta, Okla., in a major decision 15-3 at the 165-pound division.
At 184, Matt Jones of the Mustangs pinned Jacob King, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M., at the 1:22 mark.
