Thomas of Stars accrues SAC honor

League selects OCU goalkeeper as defensive player of week for second consecutive time

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas collected Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer defensive player of the week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Thomas, a freshman from Keller, Texas, notched three saves and the win in her college debut as the Stars upended Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), ranked 24th in the NAIA, 2-1 in double overtime Sunday at Stars Field.
OCU picked up league defensive player of the week for the second consecutive week. Kayla McKenna filled in at goalkeeper in the Stars' 6-0 season-opening victory over Lyon (Ark.) on Aug. 29 at Stars Field, then notched the SAC award.
Thomas aided Brian Harvey in earning his 725th career win as OCU coach. Harvey owns a record of 725-277-60 in his 30th year guiding both the OCU men and women.
Oklahoma City faces Kansas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Thursday in the John Brown Invitational at Siloam Springs, Ark. Follow the John Brown Invitational matches via live stats and video here.
