Stars end season in Opening Round championship game

OCU finishes year at 46-13

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to Concordia (Calif.) 7-6 in 10 innings in the NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket championship game Friday at Jim Wade Stadium after winning 5-2 to force a game two.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in NAIA baseball, ended the season at 46-13.
In the first game, OCU scored in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Connor Lynch, a junior from Marietta, Ga., that scored Reggie Wilson.
The Stars struck in the third inning when Lynch clobbered a home run to left field that drove in Joe Lytle. Josh Halbert, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., singled up the middle and scored Adam Clark in the fourth.
OCU ended their scoring in the end on Lytle's single up the middle that plated Wilson.
Lytle, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Carlos Chavez, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M., pitched six innings, allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out six to end 8-0 on the year. Grant Hamilton, a junior from Oklahoma City, collected his second save in three innings with one hit and struck out one.
In the later game, Wilson, a junior from, Beaumont, Texas, led the game off with a home run to right field. Dylan Delso, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., drove in Lytle with a grounder to short stop.
Concordia responded with two runs in the first and four in the second.
OCU battled back with four runs in the seventh to take the game into extras. Adam Clark, a senior from St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, singled to center field to score J.J. Bissell. Jared Baker, a junior from Edmond, Okla., singled up the middle that drove in Ryan Wright before Wilson singled through the right side that plated Halbert.
In the 10th, Concordia's Ryan Land singled through the left side to score the winning run.
Lytle and Bissell both with 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Baker went 2-for-3.
Skylar Janisse, a junior from LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out eight in seven innings of work. Holden Lyons, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., allowed one run on four hits and struck out three in two innings.
