OCU pounds Southwestern Christian 100-70

Coulibaly notches seventh double-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 100-70 victory over Southwestern Christian on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Ouleymatou Coulibaly, a senior from Bamako, Mali, West Africa, paced the Stars with 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Oklahoma City, ranked second in NAIA Division I women's basketball, earned its 17th victory in a row in moving to 17-1, 12-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Marisha Wallace, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., totaled 18 points and five rebounds on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, while Rateska Brown, a senior from Alvin, S.C., added 16 points, four assists and four 3-pointers for the Stars.
OCU's Kara Partridge, a freshman from Midwest City, Okla., pitched in 11 points and three assists. Albany Anderson, a sophomore from Norman, Okla., established new career highs with 10 points and four field goals and matched her career best with eight rebounds for the Stars.
Oklahoma City reached 100 points for the third time this season. The Stars built a 53-28 rebounding advantage.
Southwestern Christian managed 38.2 percent shooting from the field. In the first half, OCU limited Southwestern Christian to 7-for-35 shooting (20 percent) while racing to a 43-18 halftime advantage.
"We were really pleased with the first-half defense and the rebounding margin for the game," OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. "Once we put two halves together and commit to playing 40 minutes, this team will do big things in the postseason."
Yvonte Neal nailed a 3-pointer to stake Oklahoma City to a 27-9 lead with 10:48 left in the first half. Southwestern Christian got off to a 5-for-20 start shooting from the floor.
The Stars built their largest lead of the game at 88-53 on Coulibaly's putback at the 6:05 mark of the second period.
OCU takes on Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 6 p.m. Thursday in Plainview, Texas.
