CHICKASHA, Okla. – Oklahoma City University fell to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 3-2 in the semifinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament on Monday at Drover Pitch.
Logan Stewart, a freshman from Denton, Texas, pulled the game within one score with his seventh goal of the season. OCU ended the season with an 8-9 record, while USAO, ranked sixth in NAIA men's soccer, improved to 18-2. The Drovers struck first with a header by Brodie Keefe in the 13th minute off a corner kick from Niall Burley.
The Stars' Fabian Henningsen, a junior from Hamburg, Germany, tied the game in the 57th minute off a cross by Alexandre Taiar, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The goal was Henningsen's second of the year and the fourth assist for Taiar. USAO responded with goals two goals to extend the lead to 3-1. Liam Madden scored off an assist by Stephen Owusu in the 69th minute, while Lleywellyn Evans netted a goal in the 73rd minute from a Harry Donaldson assist.
Stewart's unassisted goal in the 84th minute brought the game to 3-2.
The Stars goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajdzic, a sophomore from Novi Sad, Serbia, notched 11 saves, while Austen Parker made three saves in the net for the Drovers. USAO will face Southwestern Christian in the SAC Tournament championship on Thursday in Chickasha, Okla.
