OCU takes on SAGU in SAC women's tournament

Stars have reached double figures in wins for 21st time in 22 years

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will host Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked 23rd in NAIA women's soccer, earned the second seed in the tournament after finishing 11-4-1, 7-1-1 in SAC competition. Oklahoma City notched its 21st season of double-digit wins in the 22nd year of the program's existence.
Senior forwards Ailee Thompson and Allison Worsham lead the Stars. Thompson, from Oklahoma City, tops the conference with 16 goals, while Worsham, out of Edmond, Okla., has five game-winning goals among her 11 total goals.
The OCU defense has tallied eight shutouts, including seven in conference play. The Stars have only allowed two goals in conference games.
Allie Glazner, a senior from Edmond, Okla., and Syrina Lopez, a junior from Las Vegas, anchor the defense. The Stars goalkeeper Kirsten Thomas, a freshman from Keller, Texas, has recorded seven of the shutouts and finished the regular season with a 10-4-1 record.
SAGU went 9-9 overall and 3-6 in the SAC to receive the seventh seed. The Lions are led by Nadine Jaimes and Laura Barba who finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in goals scored in the conference. The Stars blanked SAGU 5-0 on Sept. 29 at Stars Field.
