OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University lost 1-0 to John Brown (Ark.) in the semifinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament Tuesday night at Stars Field.
In the final seconds, Allie Glazner, a senior from Edmond, Okla., launched a free kick into the box but the Stars didn't take advantage before time expired. OCU finished the season with a record of 12-5-1, while the Golden Eagles improved to 13-6-1 and advanced to the SAC Championship. The Golden Eagles broke the scoreless tie just two minutes into the second half off an Aspen Robinson goal, set up by Sara Frey's assist. The score was Robinson's 12th goal of the season.
The Stars owned the 13-10 shot advantage.
Kirsten Thomas, a freshman from Keller, Texas, had two saves and dropped to 11-5-1 as the Stars goalkeeper. Hannah Poor tallied four saves and moved to 13-5-1 in the net for the Golden Eagles. A header by Sara Ricks, a freshman from Keller, Texas, in the 68th minute was close to tying the game for the Stars but the ball sailed just over the bar. John Brown will face USAO in the SAC Championship game on Friday in Chickasha, Okla.
