OCU drops first game to Wayland Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University, ranked 18th, lost its first game of the season 1-0 to Wayland Baptist (Texas) Friday night at Stars Field.
Britani Soesbee, a junior from Edmond, Okla., led Oklahoma City with two shots on goal. The Stars fell to 5-1 in women's soccer.
Cerila Zamarippa found the back of the net in the opening minute for Wayland Baptist. The goal was one the second score given up by the Stars this season. OCU had multiple opportunities to score but were unable to tie the game.
Ashley Bechtold, a senior from Oklahoma City, collected six saves for Oklahoma City.
The Stars play John Brown (Ark.) on Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in Siloam Springs, Ark.
