Box Score
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Oklahoma City University dropped a 3-2 decision to Reinhardt (Ga.) on Monday at South Commons Complex in the NAIA Softball World Series.
C.J. Browder brought in the winning run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly to center field with the bases loaded for ninth-ranked Reinhardt (46-8). Reinhardt advanced to a winners bracket game 7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT) Tuesday, while 16th-ranked Oklahoma City (54-12) meets Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in an elimination game 1 p.m. EDT (noon CDT) Tuesday.
Shelby Sinclair slid into home plate to provide Reinhardt the walk-off win. Sinclair had a one-out base hit, then Katie Rietkovich reached on a hit by pitch. Randi Wimpy filled the bases after drawing a walk.
Oklahoma City led 2-0 after Kyndra Holasek crushed a 1-0 pitch over the right-field fence with Shelbi Legg on with one out in the top of the fifth. In the second, Jamie Rateliff was thrown out at the plate on Danielle Fox's double to left.
Fox limited Reinhardt to one hit through 5.1 innings. Fox struck out Taylor Braselton to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the first. Fox set down eight Reinhardt batters in a row until Kaley Garmon got on base after a hit by pitch with one out in the fourth. OCU got out of the inning when Braselton lined into a 5-3 double play.
With one out in the sixth, Wimpy put Reinhardt on the scoreboard with a home run beyond the left-field fence. Wimpy extended her NAIA-leading homer total to 22 and ended Fox's 14-inning shutout streak. Reinhardt's Katie Blair knocked in the tying run on a two-out single to the right side of the infield.
Madison Luck improved to 36-2 after holding the Stars to two runs on four hits and four walks while fanning three in seven innings. Fox fell to 22-4 after allowing three runs on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
Jocelin Diaz and Kylee Rounsaville added hits for OCU.
Holasek, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., hit her 11th homer of the year for her 118th hit of the year to add to her NAIA single-season record total. Holasek tied the record when she led off the game with a double, then set the record with a base hit to right against Spring Hill (Ala.) on May 14 in the Stars' title-game victory in the NAIA Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket. Marisa Baker of Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) held the previous mark with 112 in 2010.
