Stars prevail 10-6, 11-3 over Northwood

OCU posts 10 runs or more for eighth time this season

CEDAR HILL, Texas – Oklahoma City University ran its winning streak to 14 games with 10-6, 11-3 victories over Northwood (Texas) on Saturday at Knights Field.
Kylee Rounsaville, a junior from Yukon, Okla., drove in six runs for the Stars. OCU, ranked third in NAIA softball, moved to 18-1, 8-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game, OCU struck for eight runs through four innings. Rounsaville pounded a two-run double in the fourth to trigger the Stars.
Maria Gomez, a junior from Yaracuy, Venezuela, starred at the plate and in the circle. Gomez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gomez improved to 8-0 by going 4.1 innings and striking out four. Jamie Rateliff finished pitching, fanning two in 1.2 innings.
Jocelin Diaz, a junior from Maracuy, Venezuela, was 1-for-4 with two runs driven in, and Rounsaville went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, a walk and a hit by pitch for OCU.
In the second game, Cheyanne Terry brought in Amanda Ingram on a squeeze bunt to spark a six-run fourth inning. OCU erased a 1-0 first-inning deficit with a single run in the third, six runs in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Terry, a junior from Little Axe, Okla., went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Rounsaville was 2-for-2 with three runs brought in. Kyndra Holasek, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and two runs driven in, and Diaz went 3-for-4.
Ingram, a redshirt freshman from Oklahoma City, and Shelbi Legg, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., each went 2-for-3. OCU banged out 14 hits.
Maci-Brooke Lambert picked up the victory by working 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Lambert, a junior from Healdton, Okla., upped her record to 3-1. Rateliff started and went 2.1 innings with a strikeout.
OCU returns to Ann Lacy Stadium for a 2 p.m. twin bill vs. Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Tuesday.
