OCU pulls out two wins vs. Northwood

Holasek provides Stars with six hits, two doubles, three RBIs in sweep

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a doubleheader from Northwood (Texas) 6-5 in nine innings and 3-0 on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Kyndra Holasek socked an RBI base hit past second base to give OCU the first-game win, then Danielle Fox blanked Northwood on one hit to complete the sweep. The Stars, ranked second in NAIA softball, improved to 30-6, 13-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the first game of the two-game set, OCU plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to dig out of a 4-1 hole. Fox led off the inning with an infield hit. Fox made it to third base as Logan Sundbye and Kayley Humann drew walks.
Fox scored on a wild pitch. Holasek followed with a game-tying two-run double to deep left field.
After Northwood scored in the top of the eighth, Fox laid down a squeeze bunt that Amanda Ingram reached home plate on to keep the game going.
Holasek, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., finished the first game 4-for-5 with three RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored, while Fox, a senior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-3, scored a run and drove in a run. Sundbye, a freshman from Bethany, Okla., scored twice for the Stars.
Jamie Rateliff, a junior from Mustang, Okla., picked up the win when she pitched the two extra innings. Rateliff moved to 6-1 this year.
In the second game, Fox held Northwood to two base runners. Fox gave up a walk to Kaylan Pruitt to start the second and Meagan Flores' single to lead off the third. Fox set the Knights down in order the final four innings after Flores' hit.
Fox finished with six strikeouts in her complete-game shutout. Fox notched her second consecutive whitewash after blanking Texas Wesleyan on Friday. She hurled 13 scoreless innings while fanning 15 this weekend.
Humann put OCU on top 1-0 in the first with a run-scoring double to left. Humann scored on a sacrifice bunt by Kylee Rounsaville.
Maxime van Dalen, Rateliff and Jocelin Diaz had base hits to load the bases in the third. Fox drew a walk to bring in the Stars' third run of the game.
Rateliff went 3-for-3, and Holasek went 2-for-4 with a run scored for OCU. Van Dalen, a freshman from Heerhugowaard, Netherlands, went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice hit and a run scored.  
The Stars face 13th-ranked St. Gregory's in a 2 p.m. twin bill Tuesday in Shawnee, Okla.
