"I have to give credit to everyone who played," OCU coach Latricia Trammell said. "They contributed in a positive way running positions they haven't ran before. To have that fight and that grit to find a way to win, I was really proud of them, and that's what I told them after the game."
OCU led wire-to-wire, building its lead to 36 points late in the game. Brown's free throw gave the Stars a 77-41 advantage and capped a 10-2 run with 5:31 remaining.
Borum ignited OCU in the first period with 14 points. Borum had a 3-point play that put the Stars ahead 9-3 at the 15:02 mark of the first half.
The Stars pushed their lead into double digits using an 8-0 surge. Borum picked up another 3-point play and a jumper in the lane sandwiched around Brown's trey. OCU led 25-13 with 7:20 showing on the clock.
"We call her a little waterbug," Trammell said of Borum. "She's all over the place. She's a great spark. She has found that she likes coming off the bench and seeing the game a little bit before she comes in. She's the one that kept us going in the first half and getting us that lead we needed."
Oklahoma City takes on Lubbock Christian (Texas) at 2 p.m. Jan. 1 in Lubbock, Texas.
