FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University lost 1-0 to Texas Wesleyan in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament Friday night at Martin Field.
Texas Wesleyan owned the 12-10 shot advantage. OCU finished the season 5-9-1.
The Stars played the game even until the 80th minute. Paige Wheaton found the back of the net to give Texas Wesleyan the win.
Ashley Bechtold, a senior from Oklahoma City, collected five saves for the Stars.
Seniors Keren Sharabi, Ashleigh Story and Ashley Bechtold finished their OCU careers. Sharabi, a midfielder from Petach-Tikva, Israel, scored one goal against Southwestern Assemblies of God last season to go along with four assists and six points as a Star.
Story, a defender from Edmond, Okla., was four-year starter who has started all 78 matches in her OCU career. She scored one career goal against Southwestern Christian and had one assist.
Bechtold, a goalie from Oklahoma City, a three-year member of the Stars put together 135 saves and eight shutouts in her OCU career. She earned all-Sooner Athletic Conference twice and five SAC defensive player of the week awards.
The trio won three Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season titles, the 2012 Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship and two NAIA Championship Opening Round contests.
Oklahoma City coach Brian Harvey completed the season with a 331-96-22 record in his 21st season guiding the OCU women. OCU's streak of seasons with double-digit wins ended at 20.
