OCU outlasts St. Gregory's

Stars go to 2-2 in conference play

Britani Soesbee scored twice in the Stars win at St. Gregory's

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University took down St. Gregory's 4-2 on Tuesday at Fr. Victor Roberts Field.
Britani Soesbee, a junior from Edmond, Okla., scored a pair of goals. The Stars improved to 7-2, 2-2 in Sooner Athletic women's soccer.
Soesbee took on defenders and scored in the 22nd minute to give the Stars the early lead.
St. Gregory's tied the game in the 24th minute off a corner from Alyssa Pios. Riley Wilkins collected the corner and put the ball in the back of the net.
Soesbee chipped the keeper in the 30th minute to regain the lead for the Stars. Soesbee posted her third goal of the season. OCU took the 2-1 lead into the locker room.
St. Gregory's battled back and tied the game with a goal from Abi Housecroft in the 54th minute.
Kayla McKenna, a freshman from Las Vegas, scored her second goal of the year in the 70th minute to give the Stars a 3-2 lead. Allison Worsham, a junior from Edmond, Okla., supplied the assist.
Stars' Carissa Turang, a senior from Whittier, Cailf., provided an insurance goal in the 81st minute, her fourth of the year. Worsham issued the assist.
Ashley Bechtold, a senior from Oklahoma City, collected one save.
OCU returns home 5 p.m. Oct. 14 to play Southwestern Christian at Stars Field.
