OCU whitewashes Midland 45-0

Stars post pair of season-opening routs

FREMONT, Neb. - Oklahoma City University opened women's wrestling season with a 45-0 victory over Midland (Neb.) on Friday at Hopkins Arena.
The Stars brought their record to 2-0 with a 42-4 win over Jamestown (N.D.) in the Midland Duals. OCU finished as Women's College Wrestling Association runner-up last season.
Beginning its eighth season of women's wrestling, OCU recorded its 14th shutout in program history. The Stars blanked Midland 44-0 to open last season.
On Friday night, OCU rolled past Midland behind falls by Emily Webster at 101 pounds, Brieana Delgado at 130, Rachel Young at 136 and Kayla Aggio at 143. Young, a junior from Whitehall, Ohio, picked up the pin in 2:19 to gain the fastest fall of the dual for the Stars.
The Stars benefited from technical falls by Cody Pfau at 109, Shelby Morrison at 116, Rachel Archer at 123, Sherese Thomas at 170 and Heather O'Connor at 191.
Against Jamestown, Archer, Delgado, Young and Demi Strub won by fall. Young came up with the quickest fall again in 1:09.
The Stars compete in the Midland Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday in Fremont, Neb.
