Stars squeeze past Southwestern Christian

OCU goes to 3-2 in conference play

Ashleigh Story scored her first goal of the season against Southwestern Christian.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University narrowly defeated Southwestern Christian 3-2 Tuesday night at Stars Field.
Allison Worsham, a junior from Edmond, Okla., netted a pair of goals for the Stars. OCU went to 5-5, 3-2 in Sooner Athletic women's soccer.
Ashleigh Story, a senior from Edmond, Okla., found the back of the net on a free kick in the ninth minute to put the Stars up 1-0.
OCU struck again in the 31st minute when Keeley Brewer, a sophomore from Wichita, Kan., found Worsham who scored her 11th goal of the year.
Southwestern Christian clawed back with a pair of goals. Sade Alaka scored in the 37th minute to close the gap. Rebecca Ford provided the assist. In the 72nd minute Steva Fridley found Shelby Gilver off a corner kick to tie the game at two apiece.
Worsham sealed the victory for the Stars in the 86th minute. Britani Soesbee, a junior from Edmond, produced the assist.
Angela Clifton, a junior from Bethany, Okla., gathered her first victory as the Stars' keeper while collecting two saves.
OCU takes the field 5 p.m. Oct. 21 against Oklahoma Baptist at Stars Field.
