Stars blast Our Lady of the Lake 5-2

OCU heads to SAC play at 3-3

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University topped Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 5-2 Saturday at Stars Field.
The Stars, now 3-3 on the season, raced out to a 3-0 lead early in the first half and cruised to the 5-2 victory.
OCU jumped on the scoreboard in the second minute when Trevor Harmon's free kick connected with Danny Frid who found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
In the 11th minute, the Stars doubled their lead when Harmon took a pass from Daniel Yeom and scored.
Ruy Vaz gave OCU a 3-0 advantage when he took a pass from Kieran McLachlan and scored his fourth goal of the season in the 15th minute.
The Saints cut into the OCU lead in the 30th minute when Leonardo Artiga scored to make the score 3-1.
Adam Black took a pass from McLachlan and beat Saints' goalkeeper Zackery Brewer to give OCU a 4-1 lead at halftime.
Black struck again in the 61st minute when he scored on a free kick to make the score 5-1 in favor of OCU.
Our Lady of the Lake answered with a goal from Robert Alexe in the 83rd minute, but OCU held on and took the 5-2 victory.
OCU goalkeeper Joe Shulberg played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
The Stars will open Sooner Athletic Conference play against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 3 p.m. Sept. 28 in Waxahachie, Texas.
