Stars edge Bellevue 2-1

OCU wins third straight, improves to 3-2

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University outlasted Bellevue (Neb.) 2-1 Saturday in its second match of the John Brown Classic at Alumni Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 12 in NAIA women's soccer, got a three-point performance from senior Meghan McMahon and topped the Bruins to earn their third straight victory and improve to 3-2 on the season.
McMahon gave the Stars a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when she received a pass from Vanessa Mendoza and scored from the top of the box.
Bellevue evened the match at 1-1 in the 44th minute when Yaritza Estrada beat the OCU defense and scored.
Allison Worsham put the Stars back on top in the 64th minute with her fourth goal of the tournament. Allie Glazner passed to McMahon who found Worsham in the box to give OCU the 2-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Alissa Reed played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars and made one save.
The Stars will return to action against Oklahoma Wesleyan at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Stars Field.
