Box Score
OKLAHOMA CITY – Top-ranked Oklahoma City University posted a 98-48 romp past John Brown (Ark.) on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Lauren Gober, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., led all scorers with 27 points for the Stars. OCU, ranked co-No. 1 in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 21-2, 13-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Gober nailed seven 3-pointers to tie her career high. Gober equaled the seven treys she sank against Langston on Nov. 13 and vs. USAO on Jan. 5. Gober's seven 3s left her one shy of Patricia Ordonez's eight 3-pointers as OCU won the 1988 NAIA Division I national championship on March 22, 1988 for the program's single-game record.
For her Stars career, Gober has an OCU record 288 3-pointers.
Desiree Jeffries, a senior from Oklahoma City, produced 18 points, four rebounds, seven assists and four steals on 7-of-8 shooting from the field for OCU. Katie Hall, a senior from Hazelton, Idaho, supplied the Stars with 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for her team-high ninth double-double of the season.
OCU kept its NAIA-best winning streak alive, extending the string to 20 victories in a row. The Stars suffered their last loss Nov. 10 to Northeastern State 66-52 in Weatherford, Okla.
The Stars built a 16-2 early advantage while nailing 7 of 10 shots from the field. OCU's lead grew to 25-3 on Gober's layup off Jeffries' feed. John Brown missed its first seven shots from the floor while committing 11 turnovers.
John Brown had 33 turnovers, which OCU converted into 48 points. The Stars limited their turnovers to six.
The Stars reached 90 points for the seventh time this season. OCU leads the NAIA with a 34-point average margin of victory.
OCU meets St. Gregory's at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 in the Stars' final home game of 2012-13.
