Stars to face Texas Wesleyan in SAC Tournament

OCU enters postseason play as No. 6 seed

OCU finished 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-2 in SAC play during the regular season.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University will hit the road in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament to take on Texas Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Friday at Martin Field.
The Stars posted a record of 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-2 in SAC play to earn the No. 6 seed in the SAC Tournament. OCU jumped from the eighth spot to the sixth seed with a 6-1 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) Monday and a 4-2 victory for St. Gregory's over John Brown (Ark.) Tuesday.
OCU is led by forwards Adam Black and Ruy Vaz. Black, a senior from Liverpool, England, leads the team and the SAC in goals with 15. Vaz, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, is second on the team with nine goals and tied for second in assists with four.
Including Black and Vaz, the Stars have eight players who have scored a goal this season. Danny Frid and Trevor Harmon closed the regular season with four each while Ethan Berney, Jimmy Irwin, Kieran McLachlan and Volney Richardson all check in with one goal.
Texas Wesleyan concluded the regular season with a 12-5-1 overall record and went 6-4 in SAC competition to earn the No. 3 seed. The Rams won three straight to close the season and were led by Ivan Kovacevic who notched 12 goals this season. Texas Wesleyan upended the Stars 1-0 on Oct. 29 at Stars Field.
