Stars shut out Southwestern Assemblies of God 5-0

OCU earns fourth straight SAC regular-season title

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University clinched its fourth consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 5-0 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) Monday at SAGU Soccer Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 20 in NAIA women's soccer, scored four goals in the first four minutes of the contest and improved to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in SAC play.
OCU jumped on the scoreboard in the in the first minute of the match when Keren Sharabi took a pass from Meghan McMahon and scored to make the score 1-0.
The Stars doubled their lead in the second minute when Allie Glazner beat SAGU goalkeeper Haley Shingleton and found the back of the net.
41 seconds later, Allison Worsham got a pass from McMahon and scored to give the Stars a 3-0 advantage.
McMahon scored a goal of her own in the fourth minute to stretch the OCU lead to 4-0.
McMahon scored her second goal of the match and 15th of the season in the 47th minute to give the Stars a 5-0 victory. With her two-goal performance, McMahon upped the career total to 75 goals.
Goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time in goal for the Stars. Reed got the start and made one save while Bechtold played the second half and made one save.
The Stars will open SAC Tournament play Saturday. OCU will likely receive the top seed and host Mid-America Christian at Stars Field.
