OCU cruises past Southwestern Assemblies of God 6-1

Stars finish regular season at 4-4-2 in SAC play

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University capped regular-season play with a 6-1 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) Monday at SAGU Soccer Field.
The Stars, now 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, got two goals apiece from Adam Black and Danny Frid and scored five goals in the second half to end the regular season with a 6-1 victory.
Frid put the Stars on the scoreboard in the 13th minute when he got a pass from Daniel Yeom and found the back net to make the score 1-0.
In the 57th minute, a pass from Black found Ruy Vaz who scored his ninth goal of the season to give OCU a 2-0 advantage.
The Lions cut the Stars' lead in half in the 69th minute when Jose Hernandez found the back of the net.
Trevor Harmon put OCU on top 3-1 in the 74th minute when he got a pass from Vaz and scored his fourth goal of the season.
Black got a pass from Harmon in the 76th minute and scored to stake the Stars to a 4-1 lead.
One minute later, Black scored his second goal of the match and 15th of the season when he got a ball from Vaz and beat SAGU goalkeeper Cesar Galvan to make the score 5-1.
Frid capped the scoring in the 83rd minute when he beat the SAGU defense and notched his fourth goal of the season to give OCU the 6-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars and made four saves.
With the win, the Stars will likely enter SAC Tournament play Friday as the No. 7 or No. 8 seed. OCU would take on USAO as the seventh seed or Wayland Baptist (Texas) as the eighth seed. Both games would be on road.
