OCU draws 1-1 with St. Gregory’s

Stars move to 4-4-1 overall, 1-1-1 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University played to a 1-1 draw with St. Gregory's Tuesday at Stars Field.
The Stars, now 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, got the match-tying goal from Jimmy Irwin in the 31st minute but could not score again and finished the match tied with the Cavaliers.
Stephen Cummins put St. Gregory's on top in the eighth minute when he beat the OCU defense and scored from the right side of the box to make the score 1-0.
Irwin intercepted a clearance pass from a St. Gregory's defender in the box and scored his first goal of the season to knot the match 1-1 in the 31st minute.
OCU goalkeeper Joe Shulberg made three saves in the second half to keep the Cavaliers off the scoreboard and the match tied at 1-1.
Daniel Yeom put a shot on goal for the Stars in the final minute of the second half, but St. Gregory's goalkeeper Brock Vorwald made the save to send the match to overtime.
The best scoring chance for either team came in the 100th minute when Adam Black took a free kick that hit the crossbar but stayed out of the goal and the match went to double overtime.
Black put a shot on goal in the 110th minute, but Vorwlad stopped it and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Shulberg played all 110 minutes in goal for OCU and made five saves.
The Stars will return to action against Northwood (Texas) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Stars Field.
