Wayland Baptist nips OCU 1-0

PLAINVIEW, Texas - Oklahoma City University narrowly fell to Wayland Baptist (Texas) 1-0 Sunday at Hilliard Field.
OCU, now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, and the 14th-ranked Pioneers played a scoreless match until Wayland Baptist's Mamadou Sanon found the back of the net in the 90th minute.
Adam Black, Trevor Harmon and Ruy Vaz all put shots on target in the first half, but Wayland Baptist goalkeeper John-Ramses Thomas stopped all three attempts to keep the match scoreless.
Black and Kieran McLachlan each managed a shot on goal in the second frame, but Thomas saved both offerings.
In the 90th minute, Wayland Baptist got the game-winning goal from Sanon when he corralled a loose ball in the box and scored.
OCU goalkeeper Joe Shulberg made three saves and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars.
OCU will return to action against St. Gregory's at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stars Field.
