Stars top Texas Wesleyan 2-0

OCU scores twice in second half, improves to 7-1 in SAC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University slipped past Texas Wesleyan 2-0 Tuesday in its final regular-season home game at Stars Field.
The Stars, ranked No. 20 in NAIA women's soccer, got a pair of second-half goals to move past the Lady Rams and improve to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
After a scoreless first half, OCU took a 1-0 advantage in the 63rd minute when Allison Worsham got a pass from Meghan McMahon and took a shot that deflected off a Texas Wesleyan defender and into the back of the net.
OCU put the game on ice in the 82nd minute when Makayla Braun headed a corner kick from Allie Glazner past Lady Rams' goalkeeper Nikki Lockwood and scored to give the Stars the 2-0 victory.
OCU goalkeepers Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed shared time in goal for the Stars. Reed got the start and made one save while Bechtold played the second half and recorded one save.
The OCU defense notched its seventh shutout of the season and has allowed just three goals in SAC play.
The Stars will return to action against USAO at 1 p.m. Friday at Drover Pitch in Chickasha, Okla.
