OCU falls 1-0 to Texas Wesleyan

Stars move to 3-3-2 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University suffered a 1-0 setback at the hands of Texas Wesleyan in its final regular-season home game Tuesday at Stars Field.
The Stars, now 7-6-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, and Rams played to a scoreless draw until the 74th minute when Texas Wesleyan got a goal from Alejandro Rivas and took the 1-0 victory.
In the 21st minute, OCU goalkeeper Joe Shulberg stopped a shot by Ross DeWet to keep the match level at 0-0.
Both teams managed six shots in the first half but no one found the back of the net and the first half ended with a score of 0-0.
Shulberg made two more saves in the 54th and 60th minutes to keep the Rams off the scoreboard.
Texas Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute when Rivas got a long pass from Edvaldo Pedro and found the back of the net.
Ruy Vaz put a shot on target in the 82nd minute, but Texas Wesleyan goalkeeper Arturo Sanchez made the stop and gave the Rams the 1-0 victory.
Shulberg played all 90 minutes in goal for the Stars and made three saves.
The Stars will return to action against USAO at 3 p.m. Friday at Drover Pitch in Chickasha, Okla.
