Stars cruise to 4-0 showing Friday

OCU begins season with four wins, two by shutout

Kayla Aggio picked up wins by fall and technical fall Friday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University notched two shutouts among four victories to open women's wrestling season Friday at Abe Lemons Arena in the Oklahoma City Duals.
The Stars, ranked second in the Women's College Wrestling Association, blasted fifth-ranked Missouri Valley 40-5 and 17th-rated McKendree (Ill.) 40-6. OCU also whitewashed Midland (Neb.) 44-0 and Missouri Baptist's White Team 46-0.
OCU recorded the 13th blanking by the program in its seventh year.
Against Missouri Valley, Natalia Hinojo knocked off Frances Efiong, ranked seventh at 143 pounds, 5-1.
Jacarra Winchester accounted for Missouri Valley's only victory in the dual. Winchester, rated second at 123, prevailed 8-0 over third-ranked Brieana Delgado.
OCU rolled as Demi Strub, Sherese Thomas and Heather O'Connor closed the contest with falls.
Against McKendree, Kristi Garr and Strub racked up falls. Delgado, Beatrize Martinez and Shelby Morrison added technical falls.
Against Midland, OCU posted four pins – falls by Garr, Kayla Aggio, Sherese Thomas and Heather O'Connor.
Against Missouri Baptist White, OCU falls came from Delgado, Hinojo, Strub and Rachel Young.
OCU meets eighth-ranked Missouri Baptist at 10 a.m. Saturday in a bracket dual.
