OCU outlasts Mid-America Christian 2-1

Stars improve to 6-1 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University edged Mid-America Christian 2-1 Friday at Stars Field.
Senior Meghan McMahon notched her 12th goal of the season to give the Stars, ranked No. 19 NAIA women's soccer, an early advantage and freshman Makayla Braun closed the door on the Lady Evangels when she scored the match-winning goal in the 50th minute. With the win, OCU moves to 10-4 overall and 6-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
OCU took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Allison Worsham found McMahon with a pass in the box. McMahon beat Mid-America Christian goalkeeper Kenady Maynard and scored her 12th goal of the season and her 72nd goal of her career.
In the 47th minute, the Lady Evangels evened the score at 1-1 when Ciara Mitchell converted a penalty kick.
Braun got a pass from Worsham in the 50th minute and found the back of the net for the fifth time this season to give the Stars the 2-1 victory.
The goalkeeping duo of Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed split time in goal for the Stars. Reed got the start and made two saves and Bechtold played the second half.
The Stars will return to action against Texas Wesleyan in their final regular-season home match at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at Stars Field.
