Mid-America Christian stuns OCU 3-2

Stars move to 3-2-2 in SAC play

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell 3-2 to Mid-America Christian Friday at Stars Field.
The Stars, now 7-5-2 overall and 3-2-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, got a pair of goals from senior Adam Black but had their unbeaten streak snapped at five matches by a late goal from the Evangels in the 87th minute.
Mid-America Christian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when Tej Trivedi took a pass from Raphael Bonelle and scored.
OCU pulled even in the 25th minute when Black beat Mid-America Christian goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh with a free kick to make the score 1-1.
In the 27th minute, the Evangels regained a 2-1 advantage when Paul Copeland scored on a pass from Bonelle.
Black scored his second goal of the match and evened the score at 2-2 when he got a long pass from Daniel Yeom and beat three defenders in the 36th minute.
Kevin Cabello gave Mid-America Christian the 3-2 victory when he headed a Marcelo Lima corner kick into the back of the net in the 87th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves for the Stars.
OCU will return to action against Texas Wesleyan in its final regular-season home match at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Stars Field.
