Stars blast Oklahoma Baptist 8-0

Five different Stars score, OCU improves to 3-1-2 in SAC

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University pounded Oklahoma Baptist 8-0 Tuesday at OBU Soccer Complex.
The Stars, now 7-4-2 overall and 3-1-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, got a four goals from senior forward Adam Black and stretched their unbeaten streak to five matches.
Black put the Stars on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute when he capitalized on a penalty kick and made the score 1-0.
In the 26th minute, Ethan Berney took a pass from Kieran McLachlan and scored to give OCU a 2-0 advantage.
McLachlan scored a goal of his own in the 42nd minute when he got a pass from Danny Frid and beat the Bison defense to give the Stars a 3-0 lead.
Black notched his second goal of the first half in the 43rd minute when he scored on a free kick to give OCU a 4-0 advantage.
In the 47th minute, Black completed the hat trick when he got a pass from Ruy Vaz and beat Oklahoma Baptist goalkeeper Colin Spencer to stretch the Stars' lead to 5-0.
Trevor Harmon headed a pass from Frid into the back of the net in the 57th minute and gave OCU a 6-0 advantage.
47 seconds later, Black notched his fourth goal of the match when he got a pass from Vaz and scored to make the OCU lead 7-0.
Volney Richardson capped the scoring in the 70th minutes when he got a ball from Black and found the back of the net to give OCU the 8-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Shulberg played all 90 minutes for the Stars and made four saves to earn his second shutout of the season.
OCU will return to action against Mid-America Christian at 7 p.m. Friday at Stars Field.
